Rules Updated: February 24th, 2026
1. Rules Acknowledgement
All captains, crews, and anglers must read, understand, and adhere to these rules, including final instructions shared via the Anglers YouTube Video and NWOS(Northwest offshore series) Facebook/Instagram.
By entering, participants accept all decisions made by the Board of Directors (NWOS/WTC) as final.
Rules are subject to change and will be communicated via official channels.
2. Anglers Meeting & Info Distribution
All tournament details, rule clarifications, and weather updates will be posted on the Fly Zone YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@FlyNavarro
A Tournament Rules Judge will be announced in the video.
A copy of these rules will also be included in the registration email, or available for print upon request.
3. Licensing & Permits
Each angler is solely responsible for obtaining all required fishing licenses and permits.
4. Tournament Start
The WSC tournament is scheduled to begin July 25th, 2026, with optional pre-tournament Big salmon Friday on July 24th, 2026 but start times may change based on the Anglers YouTube briefing or weather conditions, generally when captain of vessel deems it safe to do so.
No tournament fish may be retained on board prior to start time (except live/dead bait).
Pre-fishing catches must be removed from the vessel.
Lie detector testing may be required at the discretion of NWOS/WTC.
Each boat captain must determine when it is safe to begin fishing based on local conditions.
Each boat captain must ensure that every angler on said boat is properly licensed and is registered for the WSC prior to 0800 on tournament day 7/25/26 or if fishing Big Salmon Friday 0800 on 7/24/26.
5. Big Salmon Friday (Optional Pre‑Tournament Event)
Big Salmon Friday is an optional, standalone competition held the day before the Washington Salmon Classic. All anglers participating must read and understand these rules prior to fishing.
Eligibility & Registration:
• Requires a separate entry ticket.
• Must be registered for the Washington Salmon Classic.
• Registration must be completed prior to 0800 on Friday.
Tournament Start & Fishing Hours:
• Takes place on July 24th, 2026.
• Start times may be adjusted based on the Anglers YouTube briefing or weather conditions, Generally when Captain deems it safe to do so.
• No tournament fish may be retained before the official start time.
• Pre‑fishing catches must be removed from the vessel prior to the event.
6. Communications
Teams are encouraged to monitor USCG VHF Channel 16 for safety alerts and vessel coordination.
7. Weather & Cancellation
The NWOS/WTC Board may cancel or adjust event times if conditions are deemed unsafe.
All entries are non-refundable, regardless of cancellations, No exceptions.
8. Equipment & Angling Regulations
All participants must comply with Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) regulations.
All boats must follow U.S. Coast Guard open water safety rules.
No transfers of gear, bait, or catches between boats during fishing hours. Emergency exceptions apply.
All anglers on board must be registered prior to tournament start.
One prize entry per ticket, unless otherwise specified.
Valid ID and registration ticket are required to weigh in fish at Pier 8. NWOS/WTC/WSC may have an additional weigh scale due to entry numbers. Location will be announced on the Anglers YouTube and on NWOS Facebook page.
9. Fish Handling & Weigh-In
Fish (King Salmon Only) must be whole, bled, and gutted before arrival at the weigh station.
Weights recorded to the nearest 0.02 lb.
Tampered fish or fish not properly processed will be disqualified.
Post-event inspections may occur.
Fish must be netted, not gaffed. Fish with gaff marks or mutilation below the gill plate will be disqualified.
All participants are subject to lie detector tests.
10. Angler Eligibility
An angler is defined as anyone who has purchased a valid tournament ticket.
Registration is incomplete until payment is received through Fishing Chaos (only).
All participating anglers and vessels must be finalized with WSC/WTC staff no later than 0800 on tournament day.
11. Final Check-In & Weigh-In
The weigh station will open at 12:00 PM on bothtournament days.
All anglers must be in line by 5:00 PM to qualify for cash prizes and awards.
Late arrivals will not be eligible for weigh-in or prizes, No Exceptions.
12. Veteran & First Responder Honor Boat Division
• To recognize and honor those who have served our nation and communities, the Washington Salmon Classic includes a dedicated prize category for boats hosting Veterans or First Responders (V/FR) through Mission Outdoors.
Eligibility:
• Boats hosting at least one Veteran or First Responder placed through Mission Outdoors are automatically entered into the V/FR Honor Boat Division Raffle. Make sure the Captain’s name is recorded by MO Staff and how many V/FR you want on board.
• Only V/FR participants officially paired with a boat by Mission Outdoors qualify a vessel for this division.
• Individual V/FR anglers who purchase their own WSC entry are welcome to compete in the main tournament but does not enter them into the V/FR Boat division, This is for Captains of the boat only.
• Raffle Will be held at the awards banquet following the WSC/WTC
• Prizes include but not limited to Free Glock giveaway (2026), Swag, or other donated items from our sponsors.
• 1 Entry per Veteran or first responder taken onboard your vessel, For example: 1V/FR= 1 entry, 2 V/FR=2 entries and so on.
13. Tournament Prizes and Payouts
Big Salmon Friday:
• Heaviest King Salmon (Friday Only) -$500.00 (winner take all)
Main Pot Payouts:
🥇 Heaviest single fish — 30%
🥈 Second heaviest single fish — 15%
🥉 Third heaviest single fish — 5%
Random Weight Drawing:
• Additional prizes may be awarded based on random weights drawn from weighed fish.
• Prizes may include rods, gift cards, or Mission Outdoors merchandise.
• Subject to availability; prize amounts may vary.
Tie Breakers:
• Coin flip determines winner.
• Lower registration number calls or defers.
• For ties with more than two anglers, NWOS/WSC Board will determine method.
Raffles:
• Registered WSC anglers are eligible for raffle prizes even if they do not fish.
• Attendance not required to win.
Banquet & Dinner:
• Entry fees do not include banquet dinner.
• Tickets can be purchased online or at the event.
Prize Payouts:
• Winners must submit IRS Form W-9.
• Winnings over $600 require W-9 and valid photo ID.
• Business entities may submit W-9 with business license.
• Payouts sent via certified mail once documentation is received.
14. Polygraph Testing
All anglers are subject to polygraph examination at any time during or after the tournament, at the discretion of NWOS/WSC.
15. Protests & Disputes
All disputes, protests, or claims must be submitted by 7:00 PM on event day.
The NWOS/WSC Board will review and make final decisions.
Rules may be updated by Board vote at any time.
16. Ethics & Conduct
All participants are expected to act with integrity and sportsmanship.
Unethical, illegal, or disruptive behavior may result in disqualification and exclusion from future events.
NWOS/WSC and sponsors are not responsible for loss, damage, or injury.
Participants agree that all event media may be used by NWOS/WSC and Mission Outdoors.
17. Angler Entry Benefits
Each angler entry includes the ability to weigh one fish(king salmon only) for WSC and Optional one fish (King Salmon only) for Big Salmon Friday.
Dinner wristbands and event swag are available for purchase separately.
18. Legal Fishing Methods
Any legal method of fishing permitted by WDFW regulations is allowed.
19. Marina Reservations
Anglers are responsible for booking their own marina slips.
